Story 3: three suspects on killing of Korean family in Olongapo arrested by police
Three suspects in killing of the Korean family in Olongapo city has been arrested by Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of Zambales Police who already helped in the investigation.
According to Sr. Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, Region 3 Regional Chief of 3rd Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (3CIDU) they already have witnesses who said that the suspects were already strolling at the vicinity of the house at around 1:00 am of July 27.
Those who were arrested were Dario Basalla, 34, carpenter, residing at Sitio Botolan, Iram resettlement, Bgy. New Cabalan, Olongapo City was also arrested for illegal possession of a cal .45 pistol. Then, Willy Visda,32, vendor, resident of Bgy. Mambog, Botolan, Zambales. Visda has a pending case of attempted estafa before the Olongapo Metropolitan Court. They were arrested at around 3:00 pm of July 30. The two were arrested in the house of Basalla.
In a follow-up operation, the police arrested Ronilo Cada, 49, worked as steelman in Hanjin, residing in Bgy. Lipaydingin, Iba, Zambales was also arrested in Bgy. Mabayuhan, Olongapo City at around 3:00 am of July 31 for illegal possession of a cal .38. Then one of the witness identify him as one of the people who was with Basalla and Visda. He has also a warrant of arrest for murder in Lagonoy, Camarines Sur.
Eleazar added that based on their investigation, the motive on the killing are robbery and revenge. “There are many angles that coming out that we cannot establish yet because we need strong evidences on it.”
Revenge was one of the angle because it was Cada that was allegedly recruited by Byung Kwon Choi and was later dismiss from his post.
Another reason for revenge, Eleazar said is that the area where the Koreans are living are resettlement for native of Olongapo and Zambales or for the Aetas. Allegedly the aetas do not like the idea that there are Koreans living on their place where in fact it should be exclusively for them only. But Eleazar cleared that they are still investigating deeper on the case.
In fact, Eleazar said that two of the suspects that are still at large as of the moment are both aetas.
A case of multiple murder and rape will be filed against the suspects.

Story 2: Former Mayor of Apalit, Pampanga was gunned down in Bulacan
A former Mayor of Apalit, Pampanga was ambushed along the highway in Calumpit Bulacan by two unidentified armed men.
The victim was identified as Tirso Lacanilao, former Mayor of Apalit, Pampanga was riding on his vehicle which is Mitsubishi Galant.
Based on a sketchy report from Calumpit, Bulacan Police Station, he was on his way to Hagonoy, Bulacan when two suspects riding in one motorcycle shot the victim who was still inside his vehicle. The incident occurred at around 2:20 pm of July 31, 2008 at Calumpit Crossing near Mc Arthur Highway.
Lacanilao sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his body. He was shot from the left side of his vehicle. The police still looking for the motive of the said incident.
He was rushed to Sta. Cruz hospital also in Calumpit, Bulacan; but was declared dead on arrival.

Story 1: Two robbers killed by Makati police
Two suspected robbers were killed by Makati Police after they act suspiciously when they went down of a bus that they held-up.
The incident occurred at around 11:00 pm along EDSA corner Chino Roces Avenue (formerly Pasong Tamo Avenue) and EDSA in Makati City when the two robbers went down of the Marlea air-conditioned bus bound to Baclaran from Fairview.
The two robbers rode the said bus in Shaw Boulevard then declared hold-up when they reached Estrella Street in Guadalupe Nuevo.
When they alighted the bus in Chino Roces Avenue, they saw policemen patrolling at the area. The policemen who happens to see them acting suspiciously was about to call their attention when the suspects fired their gun on them.
The operatives of Makati Anti-Crime Unit (MACU) who happens to be patrolling at the area retaliate. During the exchange of fire, one police personnel identified as PO 3 Rizaldo Abalos, was slightly injured after a bullet hit his right eyebrow.
One of the robbers died immediately while the other was rushed to Ospital ng Makati but was declared dead on arrival. The said robbers are not yet been identified by the police.
Recovered from the suspects one hand grenade, empty shells of .45 caliber, one .45 pistol; and 14 assorted cell phones, nine wallets, and two wristwatches owned by the victims. Estimated total amount of the following is not yet available as of this writing.

Story 2: driver believed to be kidnapped by ASG
A driver of a police officer was believed to be kidnapped in Sulu by members of Abu Sayyaf Group.
Sulu Provincial Police Office Director Sr. Supt. Julasirim Kasim said that the incident happened at around 9:00 am of July 28 at Brgy. Duyan, Taih Basih at Brgy. Manggis, Indanan, Sulu.
Kasim do not want to give the name of the victim but he said that he is a driver of PO3 Sabre Jaafar Sakandal of Parang police. The victim is driving the jitney (vehicle called in Sulu) owned by Sakandal, upon reaching the said place the driver was blocked by alias Halim and five other armed men believed to be members of Abu Sayyaf.
Kasim said that the jitney has other passengers but the armed asked them to go down instead. When they go down, the armed men asked the driver to follow their instructions.
They were last seen on they way to Brgy. Karawan, Indanan.
As of this time, the police do not have any reports yet on what happened to the victim. But they are now making their effort to save the said driver, Kasim said. He also added that there were no demands yet from the abductors.

Fifteen passengers riding a Kia Besta van (XFC-702) came from Cotabato City to Pagadian City was blocked by white Toyota Tamaraw FX with out plate number.
They were blocked at around 4:45 pm of July 28 at Montay bridge, Sitio Kadinglan, Barangay Montay, Malabang, Lanao del Sur.
Five unidentified passengers of said FX all armed with pistol .45 went inside the van and declared hold-up and robbed the passengers personal belongings like cellphones, jewelries, wallet and cash. The amount still undetermined according the police.
The suspects asked the driver to follow the FX, passengers till inside the van. They reached Bgy. Inoma Calangunas also in Lanao del Sur were five male passenger were taken by the robbers and asked to ride at the FX. The five suspects directed the driver of the van to go back to Malabang, Lanao del Sur with the ten passengers.
At 9:40 pm of the same date, Roberto Pandalat, 28 resident of Migpulao Dinas Zamboanga del Sur, driver of the van and other passengers reported to Malabang police station of the incident.
The police make a follow-up operation, then at around 12:00 midnight they saw the bodies of four victims with multiple gunshot wounds all over their body along national highway and at the vicinity of Barangay Tuka, Madamba Lanao del Sur. They were identified as Larry Rivera, 43; Eutique Estillote, 57 resident of San Pedro, Pagadian City; Selveviano Estillote, 57 resident of Jolo, Sulu and Panfilo Logodonia resident of Cotabato City.
The fifth victim was also found dead on July 29 at around 7:00 am at the grassy area of Barangay Inoma, Calanugas, Lanao del Sur and was identified as Manuel dela Cruz. The place were he was recovered is the place where the five passengers were abducted by the suspects.
The police still determining the motive of the suspects on robbing the passengers and abducting the five others where it lead to killing them.
They are also doing manhunt operations to locate the whereabouts of the suspects.

Story 1: 4 Paranaque police relieved from post after their mobile patrol parked in a motel in Pasay
Four police personnel from a precint in Paranaque Police Station including their commander were relieved from their post after their mobile patrol car was seen being parked in front of a motel in Pasay City.
The Southern Police District (SPD) Investigation Division is the one who will investigate on why the police brought the mobile patrol with plate number SBH 971 in a motel. The mobile car, which is a Toyota Revo is assigned in Police Community Precint (PCP) 6 of Paranaque Police Station located at Sucat highway.
PO3 Jose Salazar left the PCP 6 at around 1:50 am to repair the blinker of the mobile patrol. But the said car was parked in front of F.B. Harrison lodge, along F.B. Harisson Street in Pasay City.
The parked vehicle was reported by the media to the authorities wherein SPD Director Chief Supt. Luizo Ticman and Paranaque Chief of Police Supt. Ronald Estilles went at the said area at around 4:00 am looking for Salazar but they do not see him.
On the information Estilles got, the mobile car has four passengers three wearing police uniform including Salazar and one civilian and entered the nearby Universal KTV. Ticman and Estilles went inside the KTV but did not see Salazar.
At around 4:30 am Ticman and Estilles went back in front of the motel where the mobile car still being park.
Around 4:45 am, Salazar went back to his mobile car and was surprised to see the Paranaque COP and the SPD Director there. He admitted that he parked it in front but insisted that it is only because he will have the blinker repaired.
Meanwhile PO3 Gerry Sunga, investigator from SPD said it is not proper to see a mobile car being parked in such place, “Also, obviously they are not doing any patrol work in the first place the mobile was found in Pasay, and the said mobile is assigned in Paranaque, so what are they doing there. So that is one of the things we have to investigate,” he said.
Sunga added that they will also investigate if they really went inside the said KTV bar.
Aside from Salazar those who are relieved were PCP 6 Station Commander Inspector Mujlni Dugasan, PO1 Wilson Pando and PO1 Arvin Vargas. They are now assigned SPD Headquarters District Support Group.
Pando and Vargas were allegedly with Salazar when he left the station. They will investigate if they are fully aware of Salazar’s action. Their Commander was included on the relief because he is the immediate superior of Salazar and should know the whereabouts of his personnel.

Story 3: Follow-up on killings on Korean
The Olonggapo Police still have no lead on why the three Korean nationals were killed last Sunday, July 27.
Senior Inspector Orlando Reyes, Station Commander of Station 4 in Olonggapo City said that they are still clueless on who did the tragic incident on the victims.
The incident happened inside the room of the victims house in Sitio Kakiingan, Iram Resettlement Area, New Cabalan, Olonggapo City. The family is living at the area for 10 months.
The victims were identified as Seok Hei Jang, 54, grandmother of the family; Suna Yoo, 32, mother of another victim Hanuel Baek, 9 years old.
“We do not have suspects yet but we believe about four to five suspects did this. Though the husband of Seok Hei Jang thinks that the reason for this is because he laid-off some employees from Hanjin where he is working as a contractor,” Reyes said adding that they will check on that angle.
The husband was identified as Byung Kwon Choi also known as Henry Choi, 52 years old.
The police said the incident might had occurred between 1:00 am to 4:00 am of July 27. No one heard of the sounds of help from the house because it was also raining hard on that moment.
The victims were only found at around 8:30 am by another family member identified as Sangcheol, 11. He is the son of Suna Yoo. He survived the incident because he slept at the living area of their house which is 10 meters away from the room.
He was looking for his grandmother when he woke up, then proceeded to the room and saw the three lying with blood all over their body. The grand mother is the one lying on the floor while the other two is lying at the bed.
Upon seeing it, he told his neighbors and helped him report it to the police.
Reyes said according to Choi, aside from the murder, their money amounting to Php200,000 is also missing.
The police said the victims died due to hemorrhage because their face was being beaten up by a hard object like metal. “Their head from face, forehead, ears and neck have bruises,” Reyes said. He also added that Suna Yoo and her daughter Hanuel Baek, were also raped.
Reyes said that the suspects went inside the room through the hole in the room intended for aircon. The said hole is only covered by plywood which is about 5 feet. The wall of the said room is 2 or 3 feet from the fence.
