Two more escaped inmate surrendered day after they escaped from their detention cell in Binan, Laguna. The police are still searching for the whereabouts of nine more inmates.

SPO4 Jerry Uy of Binan Police Station said that two of the escaped prisoners surrendered Thursday morning after realizing that what they did was wrong.

The two were identified as Wilson Esteban, 25 and Aris Bon, 26. Esteban who was robbery case surrendered to Councilor Alfredo Arcega at around 12:30 am of October 2. Then Bon who has theft case surrendered Barangay San Antonio Barangay Chairman Eric Jimenez at around 6:15 am.

“So for now, we already been able to return seven of them and we are still looking for nine more inmates,” Uy said.

Last October 1, 2008, a jailbreak happened at Binan Bureau of Jail Management and Phenology where in 16 inmates managed to escape. Their initial investigation disclosed that at about 2:55 am, one of the inmate identified as Jeymar Babia suffered from vomiting and also collapsed. Two Jail officers JO1 Novel Chiday and JO1 Nestor Sabado decided to bring Babi at the hospital.

Chiday escorted Bibay and asked the help of one of the inmate which is Wilson Esteban. The Jail officer asked help from an inmate because there were no other jail officer will be left at the jail to look into other inmates. Sabado was the one left behind. Esteban only helped Chiday in carrying Bibay to the tricycle that was already waiting outside.

Esteban went back after he helped Chiday then Sabado opened the jail for Esteban for him to return inside the cell. But, upon opening the gate, inmates inside pushed the gate then Esteban bumped Sabado for him to fell down, then the 16 took their chance to escape.

The jail has 163 prisoners, 11 of whom are female while 152 are male. Uy said that they are now investigating on the real reason why and how these inmates managed to escape.
