Story: Budget officer of a university in Marawi City abducted by suspected MILF rebels

Suspected members of the rebel Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) have abducted a budget officer of the Marawi State University in Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur, police reported Friday.

According to Supt. Danilo Bacas, Spokesperson of ARMM police Office an unidentified number of suspects forcibly took Hipolito Minoza around 3:40 p.m. Thursday, October 16, along the National Highway in Brgy. Bubong, Saguiaran.

The victim was driving his Volkswagen (LAH-350) when he was blocked by the armed men on the said place. The victim is about to go to Iligan City who came from Marawi State University.

Upon blocking him, the armed men ride with him at gunpoint until they reach the boundary of Piagapo, Lanao del Sur and Poona Piagapo, Lanao del Norte, where they left the vehicle of Minoza which they used as getaway vehicle as well.

Based on their intial investigation, the victim was brought by the suspects to the camp of MILF commander Bravo which is located at the boundary of Piagapo, Lanao del Sur and Poona Piagapo, Lanao del Norte.

Commander Bravo, who leads the MILF's Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces 102nd Base Command, is being pursued by government troops for launching attacks in several Lanao del Norte towns in mid-August.
Bacas said, the 1501st Police mobile group and the Saguiaran police station is now conducting hot pursuit operations.
