Story: number of passengers killed in Tagaytay jeep accident, rises to nine

Death toll to the jeep accident in Tagaytay City last October 27, Monday, rises to nine, official said.

According to Superintendent William Segun, Chief of Police of Tagaytay City rescue operatives were able to recover the body of Florencia Dimilio, female, 46, between 6:00 am to 7:00 am of Tuesday. Dimilio’s body was not been able to recover Monday because she was beneath the jeep.

Also, the search and rescue operations last Monday was cancelled at around 6:00 pm because it is already getting dark and they cannot go to the ravine.

Initially, the police said six were dead on the spot and later identified as Fidel Arsiado, Christopher Nervaez, Margarita Tizon, Geraldo Dimayuga, Imelda Tizon, and Rosita Dimayuga.

Two others, identified as Eufrocina Malabanan and Joy de Jesus, died at Estrella hospital in Silang Cavite.

Segun also said that there were 15 who were injured but already declared out of danger.

The driver of the jeep is still at the hospital and already identified as Bonifacio Ortilla, 35. Reportedly to be in critical condition after his spine was hit when he fell at the ravine.

It can be recalled that Ortilla is driving a jeep and they are on their way to Talisay, Batangas to attend a funeral of another relative.

The jeep fell in ravine at around 3:30 pm, Monday, while traversing the Talisay-Tagaytay road in Barangay Sunga West in Tagaytay City. The said area was believed to be the boundary of Tagaytay City, Cavite and Talisay, Batangas.
