Story: One cop killed, three others hurt in an ambush in Shariff Kabunsuan

A police was killed and three others were seriously hurt after they were ambushed by armed men in the province of Shariff Kabunsuan, Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at around 7:15 pm of October 8 at Barangay Cabayuan, Buldon municipality.

Supt. Esmael Pua Ali, Provincial Director of Shariff Kabunsuan said that the ambushed could stemmed from the raid that the police made in different municipalities that resulted to the confiscation of five video karera.

PO3 Salonga Tomawis was dead on the spot, while PO2 Alfata Tomawis, PO2 Alimuddin Sinangan, and PO1 Pilaem Macabanding are wounded and currently confined at Cotabato Regional Medical Center. Ali said Sinangan is the most seriously injured and the doctors said that his left foot might be amputated.

The police that were ambushed belongs to 1560th Provincial Mobile group.

Ali said that they conducted an anti-gambling operation in Barangay Edcor also in Buldon where in they confiscated three video karera.

“They are about to go back to the police station when their way was blocked by 10 armed men. We also received reports that there are snipers at the area which is near at the residential houses, so our policemen cannot retaliate on the snipers because they might hit innocent civilians,” Ali explained.

Aside from the raid that occurred in Buldon municipality, they also raided the barangay Poblacion in Parang municipality and barangay Poblacion in Datu Odin Sinsuat municipality wherein they confiscated one each video karera.

Ali said that they are receiving information that there are operators of video karera in those areas. Based on the reports, the students are the usual players who instead of going to school they are playing and betting at the video karera.
