Story: 3 dead in a shootout in Iloilo City

Three suspected robbers had an encounter with the intelligence police in Iloilo City last Wednesday night after the suspects fired their gun against the policemen.

The incident occurred at around 11:00 pm near Shell gasoline station located at Jalandoni corner Delgado streets, Barangay Delgado-Jalandoni-Bagumbayan, Iloilo city.

Supt. Ranulfo Demiar, spokesperson of Police Regional Office in Region 6, “Supt. Samuel Nacion, Chief of Regional Intelligence Office (Region 6), was about to gas up in the station when they were fired upon by the suspects.”

The suspects were identified as Samuel Cioco, Gerald Emaas both native of barangay Balod, Aroroy, Masbate and Hino Balacutan resident of Cagay, Roxas City.

Nacion was with his two other policemen conducting patrol at the area when the suddenly the suspects fired gun at the policemen. Demiar did not identify because they were belong to the intelligence group.

The policemen were wearing civilian clothes. They identified themselves as policemen, but the suspects continued to fire at them, the policemen retaliate; no one was hurt on the policemen.

Recovered from the suspects were one 38 caliber, one 38 caliber and one M-26 and 1 fragmentation grenade and assorted live ammunitions.

Demiar said they believed that the suspects are holduppers because each one of the suspects has firearms.
