According to SPO1 Julian de Castro, officer on-case, the incident transpired at around 2:00 pm of August 30, 2008 at the Diversion Road in Barangay Bolbok, Batangas City.

The victim came from Barangay Santa Rita and about to go home already in his house in Barangay Tinga. Both barangays are from Batangas City.

Kalalo was driving his Mitsubishi lancer GLX (DPS-702) when he was shot several times with the use of an M-16 by unidentified armed men onboard a red old model car without plate number. The suspects immediately fled towards barangay Batangas.

The police do not know yet how many suspects are onboard the red car used by them as it was heavily tinted. Witnesses only saw the driver and the one who shot the victim.

The police are still investigating the motive of the incident. The Batangas Provincial Police Office already created a Task Force Kalalo that would look after this case.
