A remittance center in Laguna was robbed, Wednesday afternoon at around lunch time by two armed men and a woman who all pretended to be clients.

The incident occurred at around 12:10 pm of September 10, 2008 in Western Union Balibago Branch in barangay Balibago, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. According to SPO1 Victoriano Peria, officer on case, the security guard on duty identified as Henry Cabusas, was inside the stockroom of their office and having his lunch there when the incident happened.

The stock room located about two meters away from the cashier’s table booth, the guard left the teller, Sarah Danila at the cashier because his lunch break is from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm.

Danila told the police that she opened the door because the three were seems to be descent people. The woman even fill-up their remittance form.

When Danila went back to her booth, the two male suspects declared hold-up at gunpoint prompted for Danila to give the money. The suspects took away Php92,000 and U$1,100 in cash. After they got the money, the three went outside the bank, the two male suspects rode in their motorcycle while the woman just walked as if nothing happens inside the bank.

The incident only last for about 5-10 minutes.

When the incident is happening, the guard is still inside the stockroom, having his lunch and said that he did not hear any commotions at the cashier’s area because at the reception area for the Western Union clients has a television and it was on during that time and that is the only sound that the guard is hearing.

Peria said they are looking if the incident is an inside job, or if the robbers already studied the routine of the guard and noticed that he is leaving his place every lunch time then the suspects planned the robbery.

Asked if the robbery or theft is rampant on their area, Peria said that it is only now that they are experiencing series of incidents like this.

It can be recalled that last September 6, Saturday, four men break-in inside the Country Rural Bank in Sta. Rosa, Laguna at around 2:00 am where one of the suspects was arrested.
