Story: 10 policemen relived as instructors for alleged hazing in Negros Occidental

Regional Director of Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas ordered the immediate relief of 10 police instructors for alleged involvement in maltreatment of the police personnel undergoing training.

The 10 are now being investigated at Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD) and they were identified as Inspector Stephen Somosot; Inspector Dianne Grace Aquitana; PO1 Jean Hiponia; PO1 Cherry Lacson; PO1 Annie Rose Tupaz; PO1 Marife Cantomayor; PO1 Ma Lowelyn Moises; PO1 Rhea OƱate; PO1 Rhea Biasa; and PO1 Rowena Pimentel.

The 10 are being detailed as Assistant Instructors for PNP Modified Scout Class 13-2008 and they are also assigned at 6 Regional Mobile Group (RMG). “They remain at the RMG (while being relived) but will not be able to do their work as instructor,” Supt. Ranulfo Demiar, PRO 6 Spokesperson said.

Demiar added that the memorandum on their relief was released last November 10, after 52 trainees, including 23 girls, complains about the incident. The complainants suffered bruises on their bodies based on their medical check-up conducted last November 8.

He also added that the PNP prohibits any maltreatment or hazing to their police personnel who are undergoing any kind of training.

The incident occurred at regional headquarters of 6RMG in Victorias City, Neg Occidental, the place where the PNP modified scout training is being held with total of 244 trainees.

There was no exact date when the incident happened but the training started last October 15, and should end after 45 days.
