Story: Four alleged bank robbers arrested by NCRPO intelligence

Intelligence operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) have blocked the plan of the alleged bank robbers who will stage a heist when they arrested four suspects in a parking lot of ABC Complex in Guadalupe, Makati City on Thursday, November 20, at around 8:00 am.

NCRPO Chief, Police Director Leopoldo N Bataoil identified the arrested persons as Armando Deneno y Landero, alias Rolando Payumo Y Noya, alias Dondon and Popoy, a native of Ormoc City and resident of Cubao, Quezon City; Dioniso Espina y Superior, alias George Garcia y Suralde, native of Palompon, Leyte and resident of Cubao, Quezon City; Benjamin Centeno y Cortez, alias Hernando Roxas, native of San Ildefonso, Bulacan, and Edgar Cayanan y Acedera, alias Edwin Lopez y Cruz, native of Pampanga and resident of Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan.

Bataoil said they received information that would help to locate the Espina. Espina has a standing warrant of arrest in Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 216 for carnapping and Illegal possession of firearms at Branch 105. According to police reports as well, Espina is involved in series of robbery incidents at the Metro.

Bataoil said that following a lead, elements of Regional Police Intelligence Operations Units (RPIOU) launched an operation to arrest Dionisio Espina.

Investigators revealed that the tracking operation lead NCRPO operatives to the parking lot of ABC Comples in Guadalupe, Makati City where RPIOU operatives served the warrant of arrest for Espina.

Bataoil said, Espina tried to resist and attempted to draw his firearm. Espina’s other companions where were on board 1996 gray Toyota Corolla (UJY 856) were also arrested during the operations.

Recovered from the suspects are four .45 caliber pistol, one without serial number while the rest has serial number; six (6) magazines for Cal. 45; and Forty Two (42) pieces of Cal. 45 live ammunitions.

Upon verification with other police units, it was established by positive identification of witnesses that the arrested suspects were involved in the November 11, 2008 robbery with homicide incident of Rhea Alcala, a Promo Girl of A&P Services in Pasig City where they robbed the victim of P600,000; the August 28, 2008 foiled bank robbery of UCPB in Makati City; and the July 11, 2008 robbery of an armored van in Market! Market!, Fort Bonifacio , Taguig City .

Appropriate case for Robbery with Homicide for the Pasig City incident was filed by the Pasig City Police Office while case for Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunitions will be filed by the RPIOU.
