Story: four dead including two soldiers in road accident at SCTEX

Two private individuals and two soldiers, members of Philippine Army, got killed after their vehicles collided at Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) Tuesday night, police officials said.

The incident occurred at around 7:00 pm along SCTEX at the vicinity of Barangay Manuali, Porac, Pampanga of November 25.

Based on the report of Sr. Supt. Oscar Albayalde, Chief of Regional Operations and Plans Division in Region 3, the vehicles involved are Mitshubishi Outlander (CJK-610) and M35 6x6 military truck owned by 3rd Infantry Battalion, 7th Infantry Division of Philippine Army. Both vehicles are in north direction.

The casualties were identified as Apolinario Bernabe, driver of the Outlander, and his wife Maria Teresa Bernabe. They are the only passengers of the Outlander. Since they both died on the spot, it was not known where they are heading to.

Passengers riding at the military truck were identified as Private First Class (PFC) Jason Fajardo who is driving the truck, Private (PVT) Lorenzo Gazzingan, PFC Mayolito Calaquian and PFC Alex Franco.

Based on the investigation, the Outlander was behind the military truck, loosed control then collided at the back of the said truck. The military truck also loose its control, both vehicles hit on the steel bar of the shoulder of the road then turn turtle.

Calaquian also died on the spot because of the impact when they hit the steel bar, while Fajardo died at the hospital while undergoing medical treatment at St. Rafael Foundation and Medical Center at Mabalacat, Pampanga.

Both Gazzingan and Franco are confined at the hospital recuperating.
