Story: Six killed, 15 injured in an ambush in Lanao del Norte

Six were killed including two minors, and 15 were injured in an ambush occurred last Sunday, November 2, in Lanao del Norte.

The incident occurred at around 4:45 pm at sitio Monamona, Barangay Baguiguicon, Magsaysay (town), Lanao del Norte when a rented passenger jeep by Guinal family were blocked by around 8 or 10 armed men while on their way home and open fire against them. The total number of passengers of the jeepney is still undetermined.

Supt. Mangurun Angod, Officer in charge of Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office identified the casualties as Mohaimen Mamao, 20; Cairoden Guinal, 20; Mosa Omar, 50; Paypay Buanding, 5;
Sainoden Acampong, 9 and another one not yet been identified. While there are 15 that were reported injured.

All of them are resident of Barangay Lumbac, Magsaysay, Lanao del Norte.

Angod said that the passengers went to Timoga Swimming Pool in Iligan City to have their family picnic.

One of the wounded according to Angod told them that the men who blocked their way has M-16 rifle and they were being fired upon for unknown reason.

He also said that the victims were all relatives of Magsaysay Mayor Jairumi Omar. One of the motive that the police will look if the mayor has death threats that lead to the killings of his relatives as a revenge.

But Angod said nothing is clear yet on the motive of the incident but the police personnel are now in pursuit operations to capture the suspects.
