Story: 9 individuals were rescued after a landslide in Compostela Valley

Nine persons were rescued after a landslide occurred in Compostela Valley, Thursday morning, November 20, 2008.

Sr. Supt Ronald dela Rosa, provincial director of Compostela Valley said the landslide happened at Park 17 in Mt Diwata village, Monkayo (town) which destroys the house of the Elimino family.

The landslide was reportedly happened at around 6:00 am.

The police personnel assigned at Mt. Diwata police sub-station of Monkayo immediately rescued four individuals namely James Tumala, 16; Grace Sorilla, 25; JC Atun, 22; and JunJun Ayco, 21.

The at around 10:00 am they recovered five more individuals identified as Felix Elimino, Michael CaƱete, Rex Gomez, Ariel Daghay and Samuel Catzo. Also suffered minor injuries.

Also affected at the landslide about 10 to 15 houses.

Dela Rosa added that they are closely monitoring another impending landslide in the area.
