Story: Cop killed, two civilians wounded in shootout in Davao City

A policeman got killed and two civilians were got injured in Davao City, Tuesday morning by still unidentified armed men.

The police that was killed was identified as SPO1 Romy Rivera assigned in Sasa (town), Davao City police station. He was gunned down at around 3:30 am by two unidentified men riding in re motorcycle at Panakan relocation, Km 13, barangay Panakan, Sasa, Davao City.

According to Chief Inspector Querubin Manalang, spokesman of Police Regional Office 11, the place of the incident is approximately 50 meters away from Sasa police station.

The two civilians that were injured were identified as Rey Cabague, 40, and Reymundo Bahade who both sustained gunshot wounds on their feet and thigh. They are now in Davao Medical Center for medical treatment.

Based on initial report the two were only eating at a nearby food stall and was only hit by stray bullet.

Manalang said, the gunshot wounds of Rivera are on his body and one in head which are all fatal that lead to his instant death. Rivera was on his way to Sasa police station when the men riding in tandem came and fired at him.

The police recovered eight empty shells of .45 and one empty shell of 9mm.
