Story: Suspect on killing Japanese national in Compostela, Cebu post bail

A suspect in killing a Japanese national last October 5, 2008 in Little Marikina, Sitio Lutao, Barangay Estaca, Compostela, Cebu already post bail for his temporary freedom.

The homicide case against Christopher Tariman was filed last October 8, 2008 at the Mandaue Regional Trial Court Branch 55 at the sala of Judge Ulric Canete with case number DU-16-546.

According to the staff of Branch 55, who do not want to be identified, the arraignment for his case is scheduled on December 4, 2008 but he still has no lawyer.

When he surrendered last October 6, the police were not able to question him because he has no lawyer. But he was detained then at Compostela Police Station.

The staff also confirmed that the suspect were able to post bail for his temporary freedom amounting to P40,000 last October 9, 2008.

Tariman has killed his brother in-law Yasuaki Matsuura, a Japanese national, on the height of their argument with regards to the commissioned that Tariman should be getting for selling a taxi cab. Based on investigation, the taxi was sold to about Php310,000 and Tariman was about to get Php10,000.

Matsuura sustained gunshot wound on his forehead using .45 pistol. He was killed at the house of Tariman, kitchen area.

As explained by PO2 Erwin Valverde, officer on-case, they file homicide case instead of murder, “Because there is an altercation or heated argument between the two before the incident happened.”
