Story: Three hurt in an explosion in Shariff Kabunsuan including policeman

Three people were hurt, including a police officer in an explosion transpired in Monday morning in Shariff Kabunsuan.

Based on the initial report gathered by Shariff Kabunsuan Provincial Director Supt. Esmael Pua Ali, people only heard a loud explosion at around 5:40 am near the vicinity of the public market in Datu Odin SInsuat in Shariff Kabunsuan.

Upon checking where the explosion came from, it was in a residential compound owned by PO1 Arnold Abellar located in Sitio Tenorio, Barangay Awang.

The brother and the son of PO1 Abellar were also living with him on that house. They were identified as Nilo Abellar 43, professor at Mindanao State University, wounded on his shoulder; while his son Eric Christian was hit on his head by shrapnel. PO1 Abellar was hit on his right knee.

The motive on the incident still unknown. Ali also said that they do not have suspects yet because no one saw the incident.

Ali also added that explosives device that was used is from a mortar based on the fragments recovered, but it is not yet known on what kind of mortar.
