Story: 6,800 policemen to be deploy in ARMM for elections, full alert starting August 6

About 6,800 policemen will be deployed for the upcoming elections on August 11 in Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

ARMM Spokesperson Supt. Danilo Bacas said that in 6,800, augmentation from other regions in Mindanao is also included.

From each Regions 9, 10, 11, 12 and Caraga they will augment 120 policemen to ARMM or for a total of 600 police personnel. The augmentation forces will be arriving in ARMM on August 6.

Meanwhile, Bacas clarified that from original 278 barangays from different provinces of ARMM that are considered as area of immediate concern, it is now down to 49 barangays.

Then, about 800 barangays also from different provinces in ARMM are considered as area of concern.

The area considered as area of immediate concern if the following criteria are present; election related violence since 2001, there are armed group in the area and intense political rivalry in the area.

If one or two of those criteria mentioned are not present, the area will only be considered as area of concern.

Bacas added that on August 6, at around 6:00 am the ARMM will be in full alert status already until there will be declared winners on the elections.
