Story 2: reporter arrested for firing gun in Muntinlupa

A Filipino reporter from a foreign press was arrested and now facing charges of illegal possession of firearms and alarm and scandal after firing gun along the national highway in Muntinlupa City.

The suspect was identified as John Gilbuena, 42, working as a reporter for Tokyo Shimbun is a resident of Poblacion, San Pedro, Laguna fired his gun after he noticed that his wallet was missing from his pocket, right back portion of his pants.

The incident occurred in front of Shell gasoline Station along the National Highway road in Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa City.

Gilbuena admitted that he is disoriented when he did that because his focus is on the wallet that was missing. His gun was placed inside a beltbag which he is carrying on his waist. He did not know either where his wallet was got from him or who get it because he was sleeping on his entire trip.

Before the incident, Gilbuena came from a get together with some of his colleagues and have some drinking spree. Before 12 midnight he decided to go home and ride a bus in Sucat going to Alabang, because he is tipsy he immediately slept on the bus. Upon reaching Alabnag, it ws the conductor who wake him up there he noticed that his wallet already missing.

PO3 Buenaventura dela Cuesta, investigator at Muntinlupa Police Station said that Gilbuena was arrested because the roving policemen personnel are on the vicinity and actually see what happened.

The roving policemen identified as PO1 Dan Rianzares and SPO1 Dominick Termil eventually arrested Gilbuena who at that time trying to keep his gun back to his beltbag.

Gilbuena was also found to be drunk when he was arrested. He said that he only did it because of the wallet that was missing on his pocket. His wallet has Php5,000 cash and seven credit cards.

The police charged him of illegal possession of firearms because Gilbuena cannot present documents to show that the gun is licensed and has a permit to carry. Gilbuena claims that he has licensed but was also gone missing when his wallet was robbed from him.
