NCRPO now under full alert, NCRCOM on red alert

Story: NCRPO now under full alert, NCRCOM on red alert

The Philippine National Police (PNP) National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) National Capital Region Command (NCRCOM) are now in full alert and red alert respectively to prevent unnecessary incidents in Metro Manila.

Capt. Carlo Ferrer, Spokesperson of NCRCOM said they are in red alert “to prevent diversionary tactics” because of the incidents occurred in Lanao del Norte.

The NCRCOM put their alert level in red since Monday, August 18, at around 6:00 pm. The NCRPO was under full alert at around 8:00 am of August 19, 2008.

Meanwhile, the NCRPO are also now in full alert also because of what is happening in Mindanao. PNP Spokesperson Chief Supt. Nicanor Bartolome said, “Situation in Southern Philippines should not affect other urban places including Metro Manila. That is why we are preparing our contingencies to ensure all our personnel are available.”

Bartolome explained declaring full alert in Metro Manila is only for preventive measures and to secure all vital installations in Metro Manila.

Source from office of NRPO Operations said that they are also securing the Muslim communities like Bgy. Culiat in Quezon City; Maharlika Village in Taguig City and Quiapo in Manila. But the source said they do not see any threats from these Muslim people in Manila.

“We just want be ready and to prevent anything that might happen that is why we are in full alert,” the source from NCRPO said.
