Story: Former rebel, killed in Bataan

A man believed to be a former rebel was gunned down at Bataan last August 5, 2008 at around 11:10 pm.

The victim was identified as Jesie Ortega, 39 residing at Barangay Sapa, Samal Bataan was shot by three unidentified men in front of Samal National High School located in Barangay Ibaba, Samal, Bataan.

According to PO1 Christopher Pangilinan, the victim was to be believed a former rebel that already turned his back from the group were he belonged which is the Reblusyunaryong Hukbong Bayan (RHB).

Pangilinan said that Ortega sustained five gunshot wounds; three on his head, and two on both sides of his body.

“One of the angle that we are looking was his previous involvement in RHB, then he left the group to go back to the government, maybe this is the reason why he was killed. But we are also looking for other reasons,” Pangilinan said.

The victim was walking going home, when he was shot by the suspects.

Recovered from the crime scene, 2 spent shells from calibre .4 and 2 spent of shells of 9mm.
