Story: Fire interrupted the LRT operations again

Another fire incident occurred in Pasay City near Light Rail Transit (LRT) Baclaran Station that disrupts its operations. The LRT has to stop their operations from EDSA to Baclaran station and vice-versa, but the operation for EDSA to Monumento and vice-versa continous.

According to Pasay fire department the fire started at around 7:35 pm of August 10, Sunday at Megaplex building along Taft Avenue extension, Pasay City.

The fire fighters having difficulty in putting the fire under control because of the thick smoke that is blazing the said building.

The fire reached Task Force Foxtrot at around 11:40 pm of Sunday but until Monday afternoon it has not been put under control. Task Force Foxtrot means that all fire stations in Metro Manila should respond on the said fire.

The origin of the fire is at the ground floor of the Megaplex building while the cause of fire still undetermined. Estimated damages already reached Php20 Million because the building has clothings, shoes, sandals, and other kinds of garments.

This is not the first time that the LRT operations were affected because of the fire near its station. The first one was last January 4, 2008 when the Galleria Baclaran Shopping mall was razed by fire. The said mall was located near Baclaran station.

The second incident was last July 17, 2008 when the Puregold Shopping Center along Taft Avenue, Libertad, Pasay City was also burned. The mall is located in front of Libertad LRT station along Taft Avenue. Route from Libertad to Baclaran and vice-versa of the LRT was stopped.

The third incident was last August 4, when the Good Earth Building located along Avenida Avenue near Carriedo Station was gutted by fire. Affected stations are Carriedo, Doroteo Jose, Bambang, Tayuman, Blumentritt, Jose Abad Santos, R. Papa, 5th Avenue and Monumento.
