Story: LRT operations from Carriedo to Monumento stations stopped for 7 hours due to fire near Carriedo Station

The operations of Light Rail Transit or LRT Line 1 in Manila were affected due to fire in Carriedo, Manila.

The stations from Carriedo to Monumento were stopped around 9:00 am after the smoke gets through to Carriedo station. Affected stations are Carriedo, Doroteo Jose, Bambang, Tayuman, Blumentritt, Jose Abad Santos, R. Papa, 5th Avenue and Monumento.

The Good Earth Building which is a 6-storey building, located along Avenida Avenue near Carriedo Station was gutted by fire at around 5:40 am, August 4. The fire easily spread and reached fifth alarm at around 8:30 am.

According to the staff of Public Relations Office (PRO) of LRT-1 the operations stopped at around 9:30 am. But the operations from Central Terminal to Baclaran were not affected.

But before totally stopping its operation from Carriedo to Monumento and vice-versa, at around 7:00 am the trains are not stopping at Carriedo station to load and unload passengers. The trains are just passing by in Carriedo and will load and unload passengers on the next station which is Dorote Jose for North Bound and Central Terminal for South bound.

The operations of LRT from Baclaran to Monumento and vice-versa resumed at around 4:30 pm, but the trains will not stopped in Carriedo station to avoid suffocation for passengers.

As of this writing the fire in Good Earth not yet declared as fire out.
