Story: PNP files cases against Commander Bravo, et al

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has already filed several cases against the commanders of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and several other John Does.

According to inspector Elmer Rubas, Chief of Police of Kolambugan, Lanao del Norte, they already filed the case last August 20 at Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Tubod, Lanao Del Norte versus Abdurahman Macapaar alias Commander Bravo, Abu Sawaf, Abu Subair, Alim Pangalian alias Commander Pangalian, Lunday Dayaan alias Commander Topsider, Commander Luksa Datu, Commander Macaslang, Commander Mercury, Commander Santiago, Commander Minsupala and 80 John Does.

The cases that were filed against them are one count of murder, three counts of frustrated murders and one arson.

Rubas said other cases will still follow as other complainants are not yet filing their own charges against the MILF rebels.

“Many are already expressing their desire to follow in filing cases but some are becoming afraid. But we are optimistic that they will file case because this is for them as well,” Rubas said.

Rubas also added that in following days, they will also file robbery cases because as of the moment they are still gathering some evidences and testimonies from the people being victimized by the rebels.

Last August 18, the MILF lead by Commander Pangalian and Commander Bravo attacked the towns of Kauswagan and Kolambugan in lanao del Norte, they even used the civilians living at the area as human shield while withdrawing from the area.
