Story : Batangas Police arrested two Marine officers for alleged kidnapping

Police officers of Lipa City Police Station in Batangas, arrested two active Marine officers in an entrapment operation for alleged kidnapping and robbery extortion of a Filipino-Chinese businessman.

The entrapment led by P/Supt. Rodney Ramirez they were able to arrest the suspects in Levitown, Barangay Maroway, Lipa City.

The suspects are both active members of Philippine Marine were identified as SSGT Tomas Garcia, 38, assigned at Marine Security Escort group, Fort Moniquolo, Taguig City and SSGT Quirino Castillo, 38 assigned in 6th Advision, Basilan. Both of them were residents of Barangay Altura, Tanauan City, Batangas.

According to Ramirez, they do not know from the start that the two suspects were marine officers. He added that aside from kidnapping, robbery extortion is involved.
The victim identified as Joselito Go was kidnapped by five unidentified armed men last April 1, 2008. But was released day after at around 5:00 am in Malvar, Batangas after the victim paid Php 270,000.

“The suspects is asking for an additional money of Php 1 million. The victim asked help from us, so we did the entrapment operation,” Ramirez said.

The victim, positively identified the two as his abductors.

Recovered from the suspects were one .45 caliber Remington and one magazine loaded with 7 live ammunitions; one .40 Glock and one magazine with 7 live ammunitions as well; one Toyota Corolla (UMJ 332) where the suspects were boarded; two Nokia 1200 cell phones.
