Story: Chief of Police shot by his subordinate in Eastern Samar

A Chief of Police in police station in Eastern Samar was shot by his drunk subordinate when the Chief ask on his whereabout when he was supposed to be on duty.

P/SInsp.Edwin Barbosa, Chief of Police of Maydolong Municipal Police Station, was shot on his left upper thigh last April 30, 2008 at around 7:30 pm. by PO1 Wintrop Caspe.

On the report from Police Regional Office 8 or Eastern Visayas, PO1 Glenda Sudio said the Chief of Maydolong asked the supposed duty personnel PO1 Caspe, PO1 Mario Quial, PO1 Gilbert Colima and SPO1 Artemio Azura abot their whereabouts and on why they were not in the station for their duty.

While Barbosa is asking the four policemen , PO1 Caspe kept answering the Chief in disrespectful way, Barbosa asked Caspe to leave the station and be back on the next day to explain because he is believed to be under the influence of liquor.

Caspe left the station but returned after 30 minutes, bringing with him an M-16 rifle and without uttering a word shot his Chief on left upper thigh.

PO1 Quial and PO1 Colima immediately disarmed Caspe and arrest him thereat.
Barnbosa was rushed to Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital for medical treatment. The PRO8 are now currently conducting investigation.
