Story: Police killed by colleague in Calamba city

A police in Laguna got killed by his co-police after he try to shot other police in an operation.

The incident occurred at around 11:30 pm of May 24 at Purok 1, barangay Parian Calamba City between the Calamba Police and Regional Criminal Investigation unit of region 4A.(RCIDU4A)

The victim was identified as SPO1 Dalven Baja, assigned in RCIDU4A. He together with P Inspector Richard Gunboc also assigned in RCIDU4A accorded and disarmed SPO2 Melvin Llanes in front of Miss Eye Super Club and restaurant. Llanes is assigned in intelligence of Calamba Provincial police Station

According to PO3 Jay Carino of Laguna Police, Upon seeing that Llanes was being disarmed, mobile patrol number 1, 4, 5 and 7 of Calamba Police responded to the scene and talked to the RCIDU4A personnel to negotiate and asked what is happening.

During the conversation, Baja tried to flee then shot SPO2 Llanes but he missed prompting for the Calamba Police responding team to retaliate against SPO1 Baja, and he sustained gunshot wounds on different parts of his body that lead to his death.

Recovered from the scene I caliber of 9mm, magazine loaded with 13 live ammunition for caliber 30.

Laguna Provincial police office Provincial director Sr. Supt. Felipe Rojas said the argument occurred because of the misunderstanding and miscommunication on the operation that they will have on the area.

Rojas already ordered an investigation on the incident.
