Story: 18 passengers were hurt after the bus hit a sari-sari store in Cebu

Eighteen passengers of a mini bus in the province of Cebu were hurt after the bus hit a sari-sari store Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at around 5:00 am of June 1, 2008 at Barnagay Tinaan, Naga City, province of Cebu. The bus was Ceres Bus liner (GWK 751) came from Bato, Oslob and was bound to Cebu City.

According to the report of SPO1 Randolph Rivera of Naga Police Station in Cebu, the bus driver, Gideon Goc-ong tried to avoid the multicab in front of them being push by some people due to engine malfunction. The bus went into the opposite direction, but the road is slippery that cause for the driver to lost its control.

The bus moved on the right side of the street and hit the front part of a sari-sari store owned by Josephine Alcaide and the front house of Gregorio Canonigo.

The passengers were brought to Cebu South general hospital for medical treatment. They only sustained minor bruises and was declared out of danger.

The bus still have to travel about 52 kms or about 45 minutes going to Cebu when the incident happened.

The driver is now under the custody of Naga Police and might face the charges of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple physical injuries and damage to properties.
