Story 1: PNP still considered Drilon and others missing, ABS-CBN admitted they are kidnap

The Philippine National Police (PNP) still considered the broadcast journalist, her two crew and professor still missing while ABS-CBN already admitted that they have been kidnap for ransom.

PNP Spokesperson Chief Supt. Nicanor Bartolome said they still considered Ces Drilon, her two crew members Jimmy Encarnacion and Angelo Villarama and the professor who invited them, Professor Octavio Dinampo as missing because there were no elements of asking of ransom.

On the statement of ABS-CBN they did not tll how much ransom is being asked from them. But they said they will not pay any ransom. “ABS-CBN news will abide by its policy not to pay ransom because this will embolden kidnap for ransom groups to abduct other journalists, putting more lives at risks,” ABS-CBN said in their statement.

“On the part of PNP they are still considered as missing. Our police in ARMM still looking for the whereabouts of Drilon and others,” Bartolome said.

He added that they do not receive any information about the ransom demand that is why they are still considered as missing.

Bartolome said they already have negotiator in Sulu to help them to locate for Drilon and others. He also said the negotiator will try to contact all possible group or people that will help them find the victims. “We are optimistic, negotiations will help to get Ces and others safe.’

He did not identified who is the negotiator but described as “somebody who has a good grasp of the area and commands respect.”

The PNP is now appealing to the media that whenever they will go to Sulu, they should coordinate with the PNP or military for them to be guided accordingly or to have an escort. Bartolome aid, the Sulu Police did not know that Drilon and company already arrived in the area.

Drilon arrived in Sulu last June 7, for their special coverage which is still unknown as of this moment. Reports said they were invited by Professor Dinampo of Minadanao State University.
