Story: opening of classes generally peaceful and quiet, PNP Chief says

Philippine National Police Chief Avelino Razon said that the opening of classes, June 10, Tuesday was “Generally peaceful and quiet.”

The PNP Chief even cited that even in the provinces, the start of the classes were also peaceful. Though the start of the classes was peaceful, Razon said the 4,000 policemen deployed in Metro Manila by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will still be in the area for at least one week.

Razon also said that they have force multiplier that will help ensure safety for the teachers and students who will always go to school to attend their respective classes.

In line with this, the PNP is appealing to public to take precautionary measure for their own safety.

Meanwhile, the NCRPO expressed that some schools should have close circuit television (CCTV) cameras to closely monitor what is happening outside the campuses.

“This might lessen the street crimes being committed outside the school or near the gate of the campuses,” Razon said.

With the idea of CCTV the police said there will be no privacy will be violated. The CCTV will be put in the strategic areas near the schools. However, Razon know for the fact that putting CCTV camera will be so expensive for DepEd (Department of Education) and private schools as well.
