Story 2: MSU professor kidnapped in Lanao del Sur

A professor from Mindanao State University was believed to be abducted by alleged Abu Sayyaf members last June 26.

The abduction happened in the national highway in Barangay Bago-an Ingud, Saguiran town of Lanao del Sur when five unidentified armed men flagged down a color green jeepney (DRN-719) with 24 passengers including the driver.

One of the suspects took the wheels of the jeepney while the rest of the armed men boarded the vehicle.

Upon turning left on a certain area the jeepney stopped due damage in accelerator, prompting for the abductors to leave 23 passengers and bring one of the passengers. The victim was identified as Professor Sherwin Nacua, 43, of Biology department of Mindanao State University.

The professor was transferred in a color blue motorcycle who arrived at the area with other armed men who are riding in motorcycles. The motorcycle headed towards Piabao town of Lanao del Sur while other abductors followed them riding in other motorcycles.

The 23 passengers were left at the area and was recovered by the authority and brought to Lanao Del Sur Police Provincial office for debriefing.

According to Lanao Del Sur Police Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Taniares Agat, there is no demands yet from the abductors. There is already a crisis management committee headed by Lanao del Sur Governor Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. who is handling the situation but unfortunately they are not yet receiving any call from the abductors.
