Story 2: 3,000 blasting caps confiscated in Jolo, Sulu

3,000 blasting caps were seized in Jolo Sulu by Marine Battalion landing Team-4 last Wednesday at around 10:00 pm.

The said blasting caps were recovered from two men identified as Habier Lalo and Uro Halil who were both riding in one motorcycle. According to Lt. Col. Ariel Caculitan, commander, Marine Battalion Landing Team 4, the blasting bags were in one big bag. The blasting caps were in bundle, 100 pieces in each bundle.

The two men were stopped by the Marines because of the checkpoints were put up in the province to locate the place of the kidnappers of ABS-CBN News Team.

Armed Forces of the Philippines Spokesperson Lt. Col. Ernesto Torres said they are not yet considering the two men has any links with the Abu Sayyaf Group. “this one can be used for IEDs or improvised explosive devise, however this can also be used for illegal fishing. Still, they are in possession of explosives that is why they were arrested,” he said.

The two were accosted in barangay Alat, Jolo, Sulu and on board to Indanan, Sulu.

Caculotan added according to the two, they were being asked only to bring those blasting caps but they are not giving any details about it. They are still under investigation on the real reason why they have blasting caps and the possibility of involvement in any crime in Sulu.
