Story: NCR-CIDG will investigate Caloocan police on alleged involvement in salvage

The Criminal Investigation and Detection group (CIDG) of the National Capital Region has been asked by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) to investigate the involvement of policemen in a shootout in Caloocan City.

Officer in-charge Police Chief Superintendent Eric Javier of NCRPO ordered the NCR-CIDG to conduct the investigation on the alleged shooting incident happened in Caloocan City.

The incident happened at around 12:30 am of June 5, 2008, wherein 8 uniformed policemen and two in civilian clothes flagged down 4 individuals and repeatedly said to them that they are hold uppers and they should follow the policemen..

The four individuals were identified as Robert Tan, Archie Aben, one alias “Adoy” and Glen Genosolanggo. Three of the victims got killed leaving Genosolanggo as the only survivor.

Genosolanggo is now at the custody of the NCR-CIDG. According to him, he was with his friends traveling along Congressional Highway in Bgy. Camarin, Caloocan City when five motorcycles riding by 10 policemen approached them and asked them to follow them.

Genosolanggo and his friends were riding in a tricycle owned by Aben, followed wherever the police will go to, according to the victim, they were made to drive around in different areas of Caloocan City.

Genosolanggo said he does not know where the policemen will bring them. Upon reaching the place near Saranai Subdivision, Genosolanggo jump off the tricycle he was riding and escaped to save his life. When he tried to escape he was shot by the police two times, he was hit in left leg. Though he was hurt, he continued to run in able to reach the place of his friend also in barangay Caramin to ask for help. He was brought to East Avenue Medical Center for medication and later brought to CIDG for protection.

While running for his life, Genesolanggo heard seven other shots which he thinks that the policemen killed his friends who were not able to escape.

NCR-CIDG Chief Sr. Supt Erickson Velasquez said they will investigate on the participation of the said policemen involved in the shootout. Also, they will have to determine if they were indeed members of Caloocan police or from other area or provinces or if they are not just posing as policemen.

Velasquez said they will show pictures of policemen assigned in Caloocan to Genesolanggo for him to identify who are the policemen who salvage his friends.

The victim said he can identify three of them. He also added he did not see the nameplate of the policemen because it is dark in the area where did they go through.

The bodies of the three other victims were found in different places in Palmera Springs, Bagong Silang, and Acacia St., Amparo Subivision at around 6:00 am with multiple gunshot wounds.

Velasquez said they already have protection security for the Genesolanggo for fear for his life, “The suspects are still at large, and if he will not be in our custody he might be killed as well, the case will not be solved.”
