One week old baby boy suffered from third degree burns after their house was blazed by fire in Las Pinas City last Saturday, May 31, 2008.

The fire started at around 11:25 am of Saturday night and was declared fire out at around 2:30 am of Sunday June 1, 2008. The fire reached fifth alarm.

According to Fire Chief Inspector Robert Pasiz of of Las Pinas fire department, the fire started in the house only identified as Tita Aoay. Fire investigators said a lighted candle was left unattended that cause to burn around 130 houses.

The houses were located in Factor Compound in barangay Alamanza Uno, Las Pinas City. Psiz said the fire easily scattered because of the light materials used in the houses. He also admitted that they experienced difficulty in putting the fire out because of the place.

Pasiz described the area as isolated and there were only narrow passage for the fire fighters to get in.

He also said only one were reportedly injured, and was identified as Romel Bartolome, one week old. Pasiz said when the fire happened, relatives of the baby panicked go out of the house and did not realized that they left the baby.

“The firefighters were able to save the baby, because we did not allow them to enter the premises anymore, after they reported to us that they left the baby we found the baby immediately,” Pasiz said.

Unfortunately the baby suffered from third degree burns and currently confined in Las Pinas General Hospital for medical treatment
