Story 4: 3 alleged hi-jacker killed in an encounter in Quezon City

Three suspected hi-jackers got killed in an encounter in Quezon City along Araneta Avenue corner Calamba Street, Sta Mesa Heights Quezon City.

The three suspects were identified as Waldo de Guzman resident of Pasay City; Richard Cumpas, 27 residing at Antipolo City and Gil Toregoza, 38 of Pasay City also.

According to SPO2 Manuel Galang of La Loma Police station, the three suspects riding in a Isuzu Hi-Lander (TWS-405) were chasing after 20-foot container van identified as NYK Line–APL Logistics’ (PUV 288. The container van contained with nestle products according to Galang.

The driver of the van Leonilo Cabale said that at the said street the suspects blocked their way and asked him to get off the vehicle and leave. This was at gunpoint. Cabale ran for his safety and saw a patrolling police not far on the place of the incident and reported what happened to him. The police immediately responded.

When the suspects saw the policemen they started to fire their guns which caused to exchange of fire and death of three suspects.

Initial investigation shows that before trying to hi-jacked the said container van, the three carnapped the Hi-lander which they used, to chase the container van.

The Hi-Lander was carnapped somewhere along Del Monte Avenue, “The carnapping incident happened at around 8:15 am, and it was reported immediately to Station 2 of QCPD, it became positive when we saw the vehicle on the crime scene a while ago,” Galang said.

Recovered from the crime scene are two .45 caliber pistols, a .38 caliber revolver and a hand grenade. The suspects sustained multiple gunshot wounds on their head and body.
