Story 3: Broadcast Journalist killed in Quezon

A broadcast journalist in the province of Quezon was gunned down by two unidentified armed men last June 30, 2008 at around 5:30 pm, official said.

The victim was identified Fausto “Bert” Sison, 60, and a broadcaster of DZAT, was gunned down by two unidentified men riding in a motorcycle at barangay Lutucan Bata, Sariaya, Quezon.

He was with his daughters Liwayway, 34, and Almira, 24, and all riding their blue Toyota Corolla when they were blocked by the suspects and shot Bert many times. Bert was dead on the spot while his daughter Liwayway sustained one gunshot wound on her left arm. While Almira were left unhurt.


Sr. Supt. Eduardo Somera, designated task Force head of Task Force Bert Sision said the victim together with his daughters were on their way home. They all came from the town proper of Sariaya.

Somera also said that they do not have suspects yet on who killed the victim but he is sure that the suspects is really mad at the victim.

He also added that the incident could be work related, but they cannot yet establish it as the case still under investigation.

The police said they are also investigating if the victim has personal conflicts with other people that could not be related to his work as journalist.
