Story 2: driver believed to be kidnapped by ASG


A driver of a police officer was believed to be kidnapped in Sulu by members of Abu Sayyaf Group.

Sulu Provincial Police Office Director Sr. Supt. Julasirim Kasim said that the incident happened at around 9:00 am of July 28 at Brgy. Duyan, Taih Basih at Brgy. Manggis, Indanan, Sulu.

Kasim do not want to give the name of the victim but he said that he is a driver of PO3 Sabre Jaafar Sakandal of Parang police. The victim is driving the jitney (vehicle called in Sulu) owned by Sakandal, upon reaching the said place the driver was blocked by alias Halim and five other armed men believed to be members of Abu Sayyaf.

Kasim said that the jitney has other passengers but the armed asked them to go down instead. When they go down, the armed men asked the driver to follow their instructions.

They were last seen on they way to Brgy. Karawan, Indanan.

As of this time, the police do not have any reports yet on what happened to the victim. But they are now making their effort to save the said driver, Kasim said. He also added that there were no demands yet from the abductors.
