Cesar dela Pena and former Police Superintendent Rafael Cardeno were arrested in Room Number 1002 of Crowne Plaza near Robinson’s galleria in Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City.

According to Atty. Raymond Fortun, the lawyer and complainant on the case together with the general manager for the Buenavista Island Resort Joanne Laurilla; Mapalo asked for a meeting on July 2 to discuss the said business.

“The supposed meeting was on Pancake house in Robinson’s Galleria also in Ortigas, but they decided to meet on Crwne Plaza,” Fortun said.

Only Lauriall attended the meeting because Fortun was already at the CIDG filing a complaint and said that there will be a meeting at around 12 noon. Fortun was at the CIDG at around 8:00 am.

Fortun said he is filing a complaint because there were already imminent danger on him and on his client. He said that Mapalo told him that if they wont be able to get the $4M from Motonori Sakuma they will kill two Filipino whom he did not identified and will put the blame on Sakuma.

Sakuma is the consultant of the Island Country Resort Inc. (ICR) for the Buenavista island Resort in Marinduque.

Adaza said the arrest on them is illegal because the arresting officers has no personal knowledge on the circumstance. But according to Fortun, the arresting personnel heard everything what Adaza , Mapalo and others told to Laurilla.

On the said meeting, while the group of Adaza together with Mapalo, Amboy, dela Pena and Cardeno discussing to Laurilla the proposal on the coup detat, Laurilla called on the arresting officer unknowingly to Adaza et al and she let the arresting officer to listen on the conversation inside.

Fortun said, that one of the proposal is that if their group won on the coup detat, they will help the Japanese Investors on their problem on their company. But Fortun said that his client said before hand that they will not finance any attempt on staging a coup.

Fortun also clarify that he did not know Cardeno and on all the meetings that he had with the group, Cardeno was not present.

Fortun also said that he only knew with what is happening middle of May 2008. So he pressumed that the services of the OMT entered early weeks of May 2008.

Fortun is known to be a lawyer of former President Joseph Estrada. But he said that filing a case against another lawyer for proposing a coup detat does not mean he is working for the government.

“I am not an instrument of the administration, I am not a fan of this administration. As you know I also share the same sentiments of many people that have the reason to be dissatisfied with the government. But I am here, in order to bring to the public, what I feel is a violation of law. And only because I felt there was already grave and imminent danger to my life and the life of my family, and of course the interest of my client. I will fight for my client to the best of my ability,” Fortun said on explaining that he is not from the administration.

Fortun also said that it is very clear that Adaza told him about the coup d etat. “He is the one who told me about it, according to him there were two groups mobilizing the coup d etat and they want to do it forst that is why they are very eager to get the money from my client.”

Fortun added that the group of Adaza even have a timeline of 45 to 60 days on staging the said coup d etat and they will put up a revolutionary government.

Meanwhile, Cardeno was brought to Las Pinas Regional Trial Court for his pending case on murder against Young Officer Union Spokesperson Baron Cervantes.
